Electronic records and signatures disclosure

Under the US ESIGN Act and UETA, a person must agree before they receive records and sign electronically. Every Seal signing page shows this disclosure, and asks for that agreement, before the recipient opens the documents. The recipient can withdraw at any time before finishing.

Electronic records and signatures

The sender (the person or organization named on the signing page) uses Seal to send you documents to sign. Please read this before you agree to receive and sign them electronically.

What you agree to

You agree to receive, review and sign the documents in this envelope electronically, and to get the notices about it (your signing link, one-time codes, reminders and the completed copy) by email. Your agreement covers this envelope only. Each new envelope asks again.

Paper copies

You can ask the sender for a paper copy of any document in this envelope, before or after you sign, by contacting them at the email address shown on the signing page. Seal charges nothing for this; ask the sender whether they charge a fee. You can also download and print a copy from the signing page once you have signed, and from the link in the email you get when everyone has signed.

Withdrawing your consent

You can withdraw your consent at any time before you finish signing: select “Withdraw consent” on the signing page, or tell the sender. If you withdraw, you can no longer sign this envelope electronically. Seal declines the envelope for everyone, records that you withdrew consent to electronic records, and tells the sender, who decides how to continue (for example on paper). Withdrawing has no fee from Seal and doesn't undo anything you already signed.

Keeping your contact details up to date

Seal reaches you at the email address the sender entered. If it is wrong or changes, tell the sender: they can correct your name or email address, and Seal then sends a new signing link to the new address. You don't need a Seal account, and Seal doesn't keep one for you.

What you need

  • A computer, tablet or phone with a current web browser (a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) with JavaScript turned on.
  • Access to the email account the sender used, to receive your link, codes and copies.
  • A way to open and keep PDF files: the PDF viewer built into your browser or any PDF reader, and space to save them or a printer.

If these requirements change in a way that could stop you from opening or keeping your records, you'll be told before the change applies to you, and you can withdraw your consent without any fee.

Signing electronically

Your electronic signature and initials on these documents are legally binding, the same as handwritten ones. Seal records how you were identified (the emailed link and, if the sender asked for it, a one-time code), when you agreed to this disclosure, your IP address and browser, and seals the finished documents so that any later change can be detected.
